On the other hand, I have a couple of friends who have Kaiser, and they're very happy with it. I know that one of my friends who gave birth at Kaiser had at least as good an experience as I did at what's considered to be a rather elite hospital. To the extent you can, I recommend interviewing pediatricians and finding one you really like, and deciding which insurance to go with from there. You'll be spending a LOT of time with the pediatrician, even if your child rarely gets sick, during the first few years – the more you like the doctor, the easier everything will be, especially when you're left feeling like you have no choice but to trust them.
