2009 Entertainment Book Review and Giveaway

In this economy everyone is trying to save a few bucks, and one tool many people have used over the years is the Entertainment Book. This is basically a book of coupons that you can purchase and it contains many buy one get one free coupons for restaurants, services, and entertainment in your area. One of my friends have used it in the past and he saved quite a bundle eating out with his wife while they were dating. Basically 2 to 3 coupons from the book would cover the price of the book. So I was pretty happy when Entertainment Book offered me a free review copy and one to give away to my readers.

Today I received my Entertainment Book for the San Francisco/San Mateo area. This book is a bit smaller than the East Bay version because I guess not as many merchants participate. Nevertheless, I found quite a few buy one get one free coupons for local restaurants. Additionally, there are coupon codes to use at online retailers like Borders and ProFlowers. There are also $5 off coupons for Longs Drugs and Safeway. I am organizing all the coupons I can use during the year and I think I could save at least $300 at the restaurants and shops I already frequent with my husband. This coupon book is definitely an excellent deal for couples because essentially you are paying half price for many meals.

So now for the best part. You can win a copy of the 2009 Entertainment Book for your area for just commenting on this post. Give your best money saving tips or link to a blogpost where you saved money with coupons. Winners will be chosen randomly on 2/14/2009 and you will have to give your contact information to Entertainment Book’s marketing folks to claim your prize. I want the winner to start using the book as soon as possible!

Sorry I forgot to update this, but the winner is comment #6!  The winner has been notified and they will be receiving a copy of the Entertainment Book!

I didn’t think I’d have an Entertainment book covering my area, but apparently I do! :)

wow, it’s pretty great that you get to give one away. i love the entertainment book, but it wasn’t in my budget for 2009 so i didn’t get one. i’m a recent graduate trying to cut down and have been putting every penny into paying off credit cards from school.

thanks for the awesome giveaway opportunity!!! and your blog has great advice on how to save and be frugal.

My best money saving tip is to save first and then spend what’s left. This way you have automatic savings and don’t need to feel guilty about what you buy.

I’d check out hot deal sites like slickdeals or fatwallet. There were times that I was able to combine a pricematch with a coupon and then cash in on a rebate. :-p You might be able to do just that with some of the coupons in the book.

I’d love this…my son’s baseball team used to sell these, but they weren’t profitable for them, so they quit.

Best tip is to food shop ONCE a week. Just use up what’s in your pantry and freezer when you run out, you can probably eat very well using what you have!

I have not been able to afford an entertainment book in a couple of years. Thank for the chance to use one again.

My best saving money tip is cutting coupons whenever I see a good one and stocking up on good buys for products we frequently use

I buy after the holidays using the gift cards I receive. This way the card goes so much farther. I buy gift bags after christmas and use them all year around for gifts. I get plain bags and then decorate them. I plan my menus using the sale flyers from the grocery store. I also bring my lunch to work instead of eating out all the time.
There is an entertainment book for my area so this would be perfect. Thank you.

My best money saving tips are: compare prices before you purchase something, use coupons when you can (IF it gives you the best price…otherwise buy store brand), and match coupons to sales/double coupon days. Thanks for the giveaway!

Tip:
Ask your store’s butcher what time they start marking down meat as iy nears its sell-by date. Buy the meat on sale and freeze!
